Once the policyholder has applied and the application has been reviewed and approved, the policyholder will log in to their Strengthen Your Roof dashboard to request bid(s) from contractor(s).

Effective November 1, 2025, only Certified FORTIFIED Roofing Contractors, recognized by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), will be authorized to install FORTIFIED Roofs. If you requested a bid or selected a contractor who is not IBHS-certified prior to November 1, 2025, you may proceed with that contractor as planned; however, construction must be completed by May 31, 2026.

To assist policyholders, the Strengthen Your Roof Grant Program provides a directory of Participating Contractors who are fully certified under the FORTIFIED program. If you would like to work with an IBHS-certified contractor who is not currently listed on our directory, please contact the grant team at 1-844-NCROOFS (844-627-6637) for assistance.

Your contractor may use their own bid sheets to provide an initial IBHS FORTIFIED Roof™ replacement quote to you. We recommend asking them to itemize the cost of the FORTIFIED upgrade separately from the standard roof replacement cost. This breakdown will help you clearly see the portion of the project eligible for Grant savings.

Please remind your contractor not to begin work until an approved FORTIFIED Evaluator has been assigned to your project.

Certified FORTIFIED Roofing Contractors are fully responsible for ensuring all roofing work—whether performed directly or by subcontractors—meets FORTIFIED standards and state regulations. They must also assist evaluators with documentation on subcontracted projects.

Please note that once your application has been approved by IBHS, you will have 18 months to replace your roof.
